SURVEILLANCE DES RESSOURCES NATURELLES ET DE LA SÉCURITÉ ALIMENTAIRE EN AFRIQUE DE L’EST
La région de l’Afrique de l’Est constitue l’une des plus exposées à l’insécurité alimentaire et nutritionnelle, aux difficultés économiques généralisées, aux conflits politiques liés aux ressources, aux migrations irrégulières et illégales et aux difficultés sociales. Soumise à de graves changements climatiques et à la dégradation de l’environnement et fortement dépendante de l’agriculture et de l’élevage, la région est sujette aux phénomènes extrêmes et persistants que sont les sécheresses et les inondations.
L’atténuation des effets de la sécheresse et de la dégradation de l’environnement, l’augmentation de la production agricole, la gestion durable des ressources naturelles et la protection de l’environnement font partie des priorités de la région. L’ICPAC, par l’intermédiaire du projet GMES & Africa, assure la résilience des moyens de subsistance et soutient la croissance économique de la région.

Orientation : Conformément à l’Agenda 2063 de l’Union africaine et à l’Agenda spatial, les consortiums facilitent l’accès et l’utilisation des données et des technologies d’observation de la Terre pour le développement durable dans le domaine de la gestion des ressources naturelles et de la sécurité alimentaire dans la région de l’Afrique de l’Est.
Au cours de la deuxième phase de GMES & Afrique, conformément à l’Agenda 2063 de l’Union africaine et à l’Agenda spatial, le consortium fera progresser l’accès et l’utilisation des données et technologies d’observation de la Terre pour le développement durable dans le domaine de la gestion des ressources naturelles et de la sécurité alimentaire à l’Est. MONITORING NATURAL RESOURCES AND FOOD SECURITY IN EASTERN AFRICA
The Eastern Africa region remains one of the most vulnerable, with persistent food and nutritional insecurity, widespread economic hardships, resources and political conflicts, irregular and illegal migration and social hardships. With severe climatic changes and environmental degradation and heavily dependent on agriculture and livestock, the region is prone to persistent extremes of severe droughts and flooding.
Mitigating the effects of drought and environmental degradation, boosting agricultural production, sustainable management of natural resources and protecting the environment are part of the region’s priorities. ICPAC, via the GMES and Africa project, ensures resilient livelihoods and sustains the region’s economic growth.
